The “Scavenger™”
External Oil System

For V-6 and 455 Buicks           $549.95
With optional Pressure Balance Line  $635.95

Originally designed by Scott McConnell, the new “Scavenger” external oil
system is manufactured by Finishline Motorsports for Automotive Machine
and Performance.
The Scavenger dramatically increases oil volume by eliminating the
harsh 90 º  turns leading to the pump through the block and the ones
going back into the block through the cover.

By pulling and pumping through free flowing AN- lines and fittings the
job the pump has is much easier.

As with any fluid system, a 90 degree turn restricts flow as much as 15
percent. Using just standard pump gears the “Scavenger” will deliver  a more consistent
volume of oil than a high volume set of gears without the heavy load on the cam and
distributor gear.

The Scavenger is a complete kit, no other parts to buy, just assemble with your current
pan and timing cover.

Lifter Valley Oil Splash Baffle

The AMP lifter valley oil splash baffle keeps oil away from PCV valve and hot
oil off the bottom of intake.
Makes the use of composite intake gaskets easy.

Easy to install        No drilling required        Just drop in

Available for most V-6, 350 and 455 manifolds
(special model available for T/A SPX manifold to shield oil splash from
rear of manifold when a vacuum pump is plumbed to that position)

1 - Clean baffle before installation
2 - Place in valley as shown to check for fit ( slight twisting may be necessary)
3 - Remove baffle and lay an 1/8 inch bead of ultra black silicone on each end rail  of block
4 - Place baffle in block and press lightly to mate to silicone bead
5 - Let set for about 20 minutes
6 - Trial fit intake to check for gap between intake and baffle
7 - Seal gaskets as you would normally do
8 - Lay a bead of silicone 50 % larger than gap on each rail
9 - Install intake and torque to spec

Anti Aeration Wear Plate

Another product made by
Finishline Performance for AM&P,

The booster / wear plate not only repairs
worn oil filter housings, it reduces aeration
by redirecting the bypass oil to the incoming
oil and not directly into the pump gears.

Blue Printed Oil Pump Gears

Top quality Melling oil pump gears are
modified to last longer and cause less
wear on housings and wear plates.
The idler gear is drilled to oil the idler
shaft, the gears are then textured to run
smooth with each other, then the flats are
lapped to eliminate scratching the cover
and wear plate

Custom Fabricated Windage Trays

Some sort of windage control is necessary to keep a constant flow of
non aerated oil away from the oil pick up.
Full length trays also are proven to increase horsepower.
Our back to back dyno tests increased a 494 Buick from 735.2 to 749.8 HP
Because of the complexity of a tray like this we must have the block girdle and oil pan to
fabricate it.
Oil Pan Baffle

An oil pan baffle is the most economical
way of controlling windage with a stock
oil pan. AM&P's baffle is easily welded in
the pan with a few tack welds.
Available for stock or T/A replacement pan.

CRANKSHAFT SCRAPER

The crankshaft scraper fits between the block and the oil pan gasket on the starter side of the engine.

Although there are claims that it frees up horsepower, it primarily helps get the oil that leaks off the crank and rods
back in the pan, which cuts down on aeration.

It is laser cut for a close  fit to stock rods and
crank counterweights on 400-430-455 engines.
Because of factory tolerance variations or after market rods you may find it
necessary to trim some of the areas for clearance.
Minimum recommended clearance is approximately .030" from the crank
counterweights and .060” from the rods.
Remove any burrs after trimming.
Rotate the engine 360° and check all areas for sufficient clearance. After
thoroughly checking for clearance, cement the scraper to the block with a thin
coat of black silicone and secure it to the block with the pan bolts. Let it set for
at least an hour to cure.
Put a small amount of silicone at the ends of the scraper and install the oil
pan gasket and pan in your normal fashion.

Oil Pressure Balance Line

Tom Rix cam up with this idea on his Top Stock engine. The idea is to balance the oil pressure from front to rear.
We use a special fitting at the front of the block to allow a line to go to the back and still check oil pressure at that location.
Kit comes complete with all fittings, high pressure braided line and complete instructions.
Tom has not had a bearing failure turning 7,000 RPM making 700+ HP.
